PROBLEM
Our client, a big retail chain with hundreds of stores across the USA, was facing challenges in fulfilling online orders efficiently. The client's current fulfillment process was decentralized, with each store managing their own inventory and fulfillment. This led to inconsistencies in order processing and fulfillment, resulting in delayed shipments, incorrect orders, and customer complaints.
THE SOLUTION
To assist the customer in streamlining the order fulfillment process, our team was hired. In order to improve it, we first conducted an examination of the client's current fulfillment procedure. The implementation of a corporate-managed, universally implemented central order fulfillment system was the key component of our proposed solution.
We created a new order management system that was integrated with the client's current inventory management system to do this. The new system would include real-time order tracking and reporting, as well as a centralized view of all inventory levels across all stores and fulfillment hubs.
Also, we created a new training course for store staff that concentrated on the best methods for choosing, packing, and shipping orders. This would make it possible to guarantee the precise and speedy processing of all orders.
Lastly, we collaborated with the client to put into practice a new logistics and shipping strategy that involved alliances with significant carriers and the use of third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to manage peak demand and overflow.
